How to Fix “Another Computer is Using the Printer” Error in Windows 10

An error message “Another Computer is Using the Printer” is commonly seen on a variety of versions of Canon Printers as well as in some Epson Printers.

Based on an error code, you could believe that you have a guest in your home or workplace is also using your printer and you may also go around to determine if anyone else uses the printer.

But, this error is not related to other computers. It can happen even if there’s only one printer connected to a computer.

1. Power OFF and Power ON Printer

Beginning with a simple fix to turn off your printer using the power button. After 60 seconds, Press the Power button again to begin the printer.

If this solution is successful, you’ll observe the printer go through the warm-up process and then after a few minutes, what you wanted to print, will get printed.

2. Restart Print Spooler Service

It is possible to restart your Print Spooler service ca fix printing issues.

1. Just right click on the Start button, then select Run.

2. In the Run command window enter services.msc and then click OK.

3. On the services screen, scroll down , and click on the right-click icon Print Spooler and click on Stop.

4. Next, right-click again on Print Spooler again and this time, you will click Restart.

After that, verify whether you’re able to print.

3. Set Printer as Default Printer

If you’re using a Canon Printer, it is most likely that you have two Canon Printers installed on your system. One of them will be the Canon printer that is standard while the other will be WS-based.

Follow the steps below to set your regular Canon Printer as the default printer on your PC and it should resolve the issue.

1. Open Settings and click on Devices.

2. On the Devices screen, select Printers and scanners on the pane to the left. In the right-hand pane select your printer and then click the Open Queue.

3. On the next screen, select Printer > Select As Default Printer from the menu dropdown.

You should now be able to print , without having to wait for another printer to appear on that printer’s print prompt.

4. Power Flush Computer and Printer

One simple way to assist with printing problems is to shut off completely the electrical power to both the printer, computer along with the Modem (in the case of a the printer is connected to WiFi).

Switching off and restarting the printer and computer can assist in removing blocked processes, fixing minor software bugs and resets the network configurations.

1. Turn OFF your PC, Printer

2. Unplug the both printer and computer out of the Power Source.

3. After 5 minutes Reconnect to your Computer as well as your Printer back to power supply and then restart them.

Check if you can print without getting an error message.

5. Use Troubleshooter

1. Open Settings > click on Update & Security.

2. On the next screen, click Troubleshoot in the left-hand pane. In the right-hand-pane, click Fix and find problems that arise from printing.

3. Next, click on Run The Troubleshooter button.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions as the Troubleshooter attempts to fix and find printing issues with your PC.

6. Update Printer Driver

1. Right-click on the Start button, then click on Device Manager.

2. On the Device Manager screen, right-click your printer and then click Update Driver.

3. On the next screen, you can click on the Search Automatically to find the latest driver software.

4. Allow Windows to look for the most recent driver for your printer then install the driver on your PC.
